Devizes Quaker Meeting House offers a quiet and attractive location alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal and close to the town centre. The building comprises two main rooms and a well-equipped kitchen. The building offers good facilities and a congenial and harmonious atmosphere with full access for people with disabilities. Quakers understand the need for peace and quiet. If you particularly need seclusion, you can be assured that your sessions will not be disrupted.
This is an octagonal room facing the garden and canal with 50 upholstered chairs and circular table, privacy blinds and heavy duty curtains for black-out conditions. A hearing aid loop system and screen for presentations are also installed.
Kitchen equipment includes: electric oven, microwave oven, double sink, instant hot water, refrigerator, plenty of preparation surfaces, kettles, large urn and 50 sets of crockery.
The rooms may be hired separately or as a whole.
Hirers need to arrange their own catering, however there is a Traidcraft stand where Fairtrade tea, coffee and biscuits may be purchased.
No alcohol please
There is central heating throughout.
There are toilets for men and women with facilities in both for people with disabilities.
A flip chart is available and extra folding tables are stored in the entrance lobby.
There is parking space for twelve vehicles on site and public car parks may be found a short walk away on Station Road. There is a bus stop directly opposite the entrance to Sussex Walk for bus numbers 273, 272, 49 and 33.
Further instructions for finding the Meeting House can be found on our Contacts page.
We have public liability insurance to cover faults in the building and surrounding grounds but it is the hirer’s responsibility to take out third party insurance to cover their activity.
