Devizes Quaker Meeting House offers a quiet and attractive location alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal and close to the town centre. The building comprises two main rooms and a well-equipped kitchen. We offer good facilities and a congenial and harmonious atmosphere with full access for people with disabilities. There is parking available for up to 12 cars. Quakers understand the need for peace and quiet. If you particularly need seclusion, you can be assured that your sessions will not be disrupted. We are now able to offer a Wi Fi link if needed.

MEETING ROOM

 This is an octagonal room facing the garden and canal with 50 upholstered chairs and circular table, privacy blinds and heavy duty curtains for black-out conditions. A hearing aid loop system and screen for presentations are also installed.                 

MARSDEN ROOM

A smaller rectangular room which can be fully closed off from or opened out to a small lobby with a folding door and is convenient for the kitchen. Capacity up to 20 people.

KITCHEN

Kitchen equipment includes: electric oven, microwave oven, double sink, instant hot water, refrigerator, plenty of preparation surfaces, kettles, large urn and 50 sets of crockery.      

IN GENERAL

The rooms may be hired separately or as a whole.

Hirers need to arrange their own catering,

No alcohol please

There is central heating throughout.

There are toilets for men and women with facilities in both for people with disabilities.

A flip chart is available and extra folding tables are stored in the entrance lobby.                   

OUTSIDE

A small secluded garden lies between the Meeting Room and the canal side and this is also accessible from the Marsden Room.

ACCESS

10-mhcpkCar Park: Parking space for 12 vehicles

There is parking space for twelve vehicles on site and public car parks may be found a short walk away on Station Road. There is a bus stop directly opposite the entrance to Sussex Walk for bus numbers 273, 272, 49 and 33.

INSURANCE

We have public liability insurance to cover faults in the building and surrounding grounds but it is the hirer’s responsibility to take out third party insurance to cover their activity and to have a safeguarding policy.  

CURRENT HIRING CHARGES

If you phone and the hirings manager is not available please leave a clear message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

The facilities can be hired in the following combinations at rates that we believe to be very competitive:

Meeting Room    The first hour will cost £14 and subsequent hours will be charged at £12

                          The full day of 8 hours will cost £90 giving a small reduction on the hourly rate.

Marsden Room   The cost will be £9 per hour

Whole building    The cost for the whole day (8 hours) will be £110

                          The cost for half a day (4 hours) will be £60

Use of the kitchen is included but needs to be booked to ensure that groups are able to keep apart and to preserve the privacy of those using the Marsden Room.The provision of all refreshments is the responsibility of the hiring organisation.

Please note: there will be a charge of 50% of the agreed fee for cancellations within two weeks from the date booked.
